De legendarische pop- en bluesgitarist komt op 24 september 2010 met alweer zijn 19e solo studioalbum, simpelweg getiteld "Clapton". Het album werd mede geproduceerd door gitarist en producer Doyle Bramhall II, en daarnaast werkten onder meer JJ Cale, Allen Toussaint, Steve Winwood, Sheryl Crow, Wynford Marsalis, en Dereck Trucks mee. Het resultaat is een album dat niet alleen wat wegheeft van de eeuwenoude traditionele brass-bands tot onbekende countryblues, en gloednieuwe originele songs. Een album dat niet alleen relaxt en verhelderend is, maar ook anders dat alles wat hij hiervoor gedaan heeft. "This album wasn't what it was intended to be at all," zegt Eric Clapton. "It's actually better than it was meant to be because, in a way, I just let it happen.
