The Dark Side Of The Moon van Pink Floyd, een van de meest iconische en invloedrijke albums ooit, viert zijn 50e verjaardag. Het album werd gedeeltelijk ontwikkeld tijdens live optredens, en de band gaf een première van een vroege versie van de suite in het Londense Rainbow Theatre enkele maanden voordat de opnames begonnen. 'The Dark Side Of The Moon' is het achtste studioalbum van Pink Floyd, oorspronkelijk uitgebracht in maart 1973. Het nieuwe materiaal werd in 1972 en 1973 opgenomen in de EMI Studios (nu Abbey Road Studios) in Londen. De iconische hoes, die een prismaspectrum afbeeldt, werd ontworpen door Storm Thorgerson van Hipgnosis en getekend door George Hardie. Van 'The Dark Side Of The Moon' zijn wereldwijd meer dan 50 miljoen exemplaren verkocht.

De film speelt zich af in de spookachtig mooie ruïnes van het oude Romeinse Amfitheater in Pompeii, Italië, en legt Pink Floyd vast tijdens een intiem concert zonder publiek. Het optreden werd gefilmd in oktober 1971 en bevat onvergetelijke nummers als “Echoes”, “A Saucerful of Secrets” en “One of These Days”.
