Op het afstudeerfeest van zijn zus in de Bronx startte DJ Kool Herc op 11 augustus 1973 met gesproken woorden over de muziek heen wat zich ontwikkelde in de rap van vandaag de dag. Algemeen wordt dit moment beschouwd al de geboorte van de Hip Hop. Om dat, 50 jaar later in 2023, te vieren staan op deze rood gekleurde 180 grams LP vele hoogtepunten die het genre heeft voortgebracht van artiesten als NAS, OUTKAST, FUGEES, A TRIBE CALLED QUEST, WU-TANG CLAN, CANDYMAN en CYPRESS HILL.
